Each year the guild adopts projects that
will be of service to our community or to our guild members. Members are
encouraged to present new projects to the guild for consideration. Some
projects are monthly projects while others are ongoing throughout our
guild year.

Wee Care Quilts
The mission of this
project is to extend love to the children in our
area by showing them "WE" care. Specific guidelines for
constructing Wee Care Quilts are available to all members. This
project is on-going throughout our quilt year and members are
encouraged to make these baby quilts as often as possible. Once
completed, these quilts are donated to the Brownwood Regional
Medical Center to be given to new mothers. Wee Care Quilt
Coordinators are Nancy Tubb and Mildred Turner.

Patriotic Pillow Project
This project is a year
round project for our guild. Members who wish
to show their support for our wounded and injured men and
women in the military make U.S. flag pillow cases that
will fit pillows that are 12 1/2 inches by 20 1/2 inches. Guild
members are given instructions for completing these pillow cases.
The finished pillow cases are mailed quarterly to The Pillow
Project in Chicago, IL. If you wish to make a pillow case, please do
so! For a complete pattern and instructions, please visit
www.Patrioticpillowproject.org
and click on "Design & How to" located on the left side in a
grey box. Our guild
coordinators are Ruby Goodwin and Mildred Turner.
Pillow Patrol Pillowcase
Guild members sew
pillowcases for our local CPS division to use.
Often, for their protection, children must be quickly removed from
the home and there is little time for packing a suitcase. With Pillow
Patrol Pillowcases, children have the opportunity to put some
items in the pillowcase that are familiar and comforting to the child
such as clothing, stuffed animals, toys, pictures, etc. These pillow
cases are collected throughout the year and delivered to our local CPS
office.
Anyone wishing to make a pillowcase (or more!) is encouraged to
do so. Complete instructions can be found at
www.sewingeducators.com.
Click on Pillow Patrol Pillowcase II.
Coordinators for our guild are Pat Karnes and Mildred Turner.
Nancy Tubb (morning guild
member) has great instructions that she has revised which made sewing this project very
easy. Click here for her new
guidelines.
Block
of the Month
Each month members are
given instructions for a new block of the
month. Completed blocks are brought to the next guild meeting
and a drawing is held. The winner receives all of the blocks for that
meeting. These blocks encourage members to expand their
knowledge of quilting and quilting skills. Block of the month
coordinator is Morning - Nancy Tubb and Evening - Millie Schwab. For the current block of the month
pattern, please click
here.
Teaching Block
Each month Angela McCorkle brings
us a new block to work on. We are learning new quilting skills and
improving old ones. We can come early or stay and sew after our guild
meeting with instructions
from Angela and other guild members, or we can take the block home and
try it on our own.
